Babysitter accused of murder remanded in provincial court - Second Degree Murder Criminal Lawyer Ottawa

Date: 4 Oct 1985

The second-degree murder case against a 28-year-old Nepean woman charged with the death of a 20-month-old boy she was babysitting was remanded today to Oct. 17. Zuleima Fell, of Hogan Street in Nepean's Parkwood Hills, was charged with murder by Nepean police last week following a 1 month-long investigation. She was released on bail by an Ontario Supreme Court Judge last Friday, the day after she was charged. Her laywer, Gary Chayko, sought the remand today. Police say Fell was babysitting the victim in her home Aug. 27 when he was taken to the Ottawa Civic Hospital with severe internal abdominal injuries. The child, whose identity is being withheld at the request of the parents, died the following day. Fell, who is married, is a native of Venezuela. Police were called to investigate the infant's death after hospital officials decided the injuries could have been a case of child abuse.
